Leadership Portal Guide

What leaders see in Cursus, how scoping works, and what the Leadership Portal does and does not show.

3 min read

The Leadership Portal is a dedicated section of Cursus for users with the Leader or Executive role. It surfaces organizational intelligence scoped to the leader's own team, without exposing data from other parts of the organization or any individual-level behavioral data.

What leaders see

My Organization

An overview of change health across the leader's scoped groups. Shows:

  • Current E-C position for each group in their organization
  • Cumulative change load — how many active programs are affecting their team
  • Trend direction (improving / stable / declining) over the last 30/60/90 days
  • Active interventions and their status

This is the starting point for a leader's daily check-in. It answers: "What is the state of my organization right now?"

Team Insights

A deeper view into the intelligence behind the summary. Leaders can see:

  • Change load breakdown by program and group
  • Network position signals (are key influencers in their team engaged?)
  • Readiness trends across releases and milestones

Team Insights is read-only. Leaders cannot edit program data, change impacts, or intervention plans from this view.

Lumen Coaching

Lumen operates differently in the Leadership Portal. Rather than a practitioner tool, it functions as a coaching assistant — providing situational guidance grounded in the leader's specific organizational data.

Example prompts a leader might use:

  • "My Finance team is showing low energy heading into go-live. What should I do?"
  • "How do I have a conversation with a direct report who seems resistant to the change?"
  • "What's the most important thing I can do this week to support the ERP rollout?"

Lumen's responses adapt to the organization's configured change philosophy (ADKAR, Kotter, Bridges, etc.) and are grounded in the actual data from the leader's scoped groups.

Change Briefings

Auto-generated summaries Cursus prepares for a leader before key milestones or steering committee meetings. A briefing typically includes:

  • Current readiness status by group
  • Key risks and recommended actions
  • Talking points for team communications
  • Upcoming milestones and what's needed from the leader

Briefings are generated by Lumen and require practitioner review before delivery.

How scoping works

A leader's data scope is determined by one of two methods:

  • HRIS hierarchy (default) — The leader sees data for all groups that report up through their organizational node in the HRIS import
  • Admin-configured groups — An administrator can manually specify which stakeholder groups fall within a leader's scope, overriding the HRIS hierarchy

Scoping is configured per-leader in Settings → Users → [Leader] → Data Scope. This allows for matrix organizations, dotted-line relationships, or cases where the HRIS hierarchy does not reflect operational reality.

What the Leadership Portal does NOT show

The following data is never visible in any Leadership Portal view, regardless of scope configuration:

  • Individual employee behavioral data (communication patterns, calendar activity)
  • Individual survey responses
  • Any metric for a group below the aggregation threshold (default: 5 people)
  • Data from programs or groups outside the leader's configured scope

These constraints are enforced at the API layer. They are not UI-only restrictions.
